The boat-neck style has an appealing simplicity that has proved very popular at BlueBarn.Life. Apparently a striped boat neck shirt was used in sailors' uniforms by the French Navy in 1858 because the wide, plain neck was said to facilitate quick removal if a sailor fell overboard.
I’m not sure whether any of our customers have bought one for that reason! Kat particularly likes the boat neck because it’s so easy to add layers and turn a dress into a pinafore so it can be worn through all the seasons.
